pregnancy support cheshire
Birth Preparation that’s grounded in knowledge, and taylored to your individual circumstances and story.
Midwifery Consultation
Have you just come away from an appointment with your care provider feeling confused, disappointed, and not seen as an individual?
Have you been strongly advised against a home birth or told you must give birth in an obstetric led unit but want to know if there are any alternatives options that are still reasonable and safe?
Social media is full of women asking for advice, questioning what they have been told, and looking for answers. However the information and advice shared in these spaces can be overwhelming and given without understanding the full picture.
“Just decline it” is not always helpful, or possible, and is an oversimplification of what are often very complex and nuanced decisions.
-
This One Hour session is a chance for you to share with me the details of whatever challenges you are facing within your care.
This could be anything, but here are some common scenarios:
You want to give birth on the birth centre but have been told there can be staffing issues?
You want a vaginal birth at home after a C-section?You have been told you need to be induced next week due to the baby’s growth?
You have been told you cannot give birth on the birth centre because you lost too much blood last time?
With my knowledge of the current system. My input will bring you clarity rather than confusion, understanding rather than overwhelm, and most importantly, options and tools for communicating with your care providers and working towards the birth you want.

Bespoke birth preparation
Are you looking for the right birth preparation class?
I get it! You want to meet others who are pregnant and go on the journey together and then be able to meet up afterwards! Meaningful social connections are essential for when the baby is here.
I believe birth preparation should actually prepare you for birth, not just give generic information, tips for coping with pain, or elevate a particular type of birth.
My birth preparation is intentionally one to one.
This allows us to cover everything about birth you wish to learn about from a midwife who has experience supporting many different types of birth.
We explore your history, past experiences, and provide the space for you to ask questions and explore your options in a confidential space where you will not have to worry about other people’s judgements or feelings.

Third-trimester aromatherapy
Are you anxious about going overdue? Are you desperate to avoid induction? Have your water's gone but no labour yet? Has something come up in the 11th hour of pregnancy that has thrown you?
This is a luxury treatment, given in the comfort of your own home, that combines elements of the midwifery consultation where we can discuss your situation, address any concerns or fears that are coming up, followed by a deeply relaxing aromatherapy foot massage that may encourage labour to start.
Aromatherapy and massage have been proven to be beneficial in labour to facilitate normal birth, reducing the need for pharmacological or surgical intervention as well as enhancing maternal satisfaction (Burns et al 1999).
You will also have space to reflect, and access your own wisdom and intuition.

The Midwives’ Midwife
There are challenges to being pregnant as a midwife that are not often talked about. Do you want something more from your pregnancy and birth experience than what you are seeing in your everyday experience? Have you heard your colleagues talk about the "typical midwife birth" and fear that will be your fate?
Are there aspects of standard care that you want to decline and you are worried about what your colleauges may think? Would you appreciate a chance to prepare for your birth without having to sit through information you already know?
Are you carrying secondary birth trauma, knowing it is going to affect your own experience and need space to process it?
-
